689-00007
Panerai's history is one that is very multi layered and fascinating to both seasoned watch aficionados and new collectors alike. The company was started in 1860 as a small workshop, watchmaking school and retail space located in Florence, Italy. By the early 20th century, they eventually moved to manufacturing diving equipment, such as gauges, compasses, underwater mine components and waterproof watches. They were almost exclusively a military contractor to the Royal Italian Navy and their watches were not available for sale to the public until the early 1950's. Panerai has a very distinct character and design language that can never be mistaken for any other brand. This pre-owned chronograph, out of the Luminor collection, is one of 300 produced and consists of a 40.00 mm titanium case, steel tachymetric bezel, domed synthetic sapphire crystal, silver dial with black and Super-Luminova Arabic numerals, black (panda) chronograph registers for hours/minutes/seconds, Super-Luminova coated hands, curved crown protector with locking latch, flat chrono pump style pushers, screw-in case back with sapphire exhibition window, Panerai Caliber OP VI automatic movement (modified Zenith El Primero 400 base) with thirty-one jewels and 50 hour power reserve and a titanium and stainless steel bracelet with hidden double deployant clasp.
